Today was our dear friends Clay & Mary's little boy William's First Birthday Party! Marc & I decided to be brave and hit the Birthday Scene, triplets on board, for the first time!
It was a wonderful party! Lots of kids, lots of loving friends and family, very relaxed, we felt extremely welcomed, even though we were a total traveling circus.
It took us a few minutes to get everyone inside, unloaded, and situated. After we arrived, not 2 minutes later, an odd odor was coming from Celia's adorable jean jumper. Houston, we have a blowout! Clay was kind enough to let me change her in William's nursery :) Wyatt was still sleeping in his carseat, and the girls began to play on the floor in the living room... Post-blowout, a cute little lady came up to Celia to tell her how pretty she was. Celia made the "sad face" and started crying! Did I mention she's a little shy? Yeah. Socializing is coming slowly!
Annalee was hootin' and hollerin' with Daddy on the floor... Wyatt wakes up and is giving his ear-to-ear grin from his carseat. William gets his cake, and we are doing good.
Then, the Hughes team started decompensating... Annalee got fussy, Celia started crying, and some Clutch Grandmas came to the rescue, one taking Celia to look at the flowers outside, and the other rocked Annalee in the rocker :) Wyatt started fussing and we busted out the emergency Oragel, and prayed for the best! They were doing so-so, then Wyatt spit up on Mary's Sister. And that's when we left the Birthday "Scene"!!! Mommy cried on the way home, LOL
All in all, we lasted about an hour and a half, and it was kind of hectic, but a great party! Clay and Mary could not have been more welcoming or wonderful to us!
Moral of the Story: Daddy is now requiring that Mommy takes 2 shots of a liquor of her choice before attending Birthday Parties with the kids...
Happy Birthday, sweet William!!!
